Art as Resistance – Round Table
at Porgy & Bess / Strict Chamber –Free and Open to All
We are delighted to invite you to an intimate conversation at the crossroad of arts, activism, and academia, as a part of the opening of this year’s NAWA Festival.
The round table will feature:
Shirin Assa – Intersectionality Scholar and Activist
Dilan Şengül – Curator & Cultural Producer
Yalda Yazdani – Ethnomusicologist & Curator
Nemat Battah – Musician, Oud Player, Educator
Becaye Aw – Singer, Guitarist, and Storyteller
Together, they will explore their creative processes, the emotional and political dimensions of storytelling in their work, and how art becomes a way to navigate identity and respond to the world—shaped by, and shaping, acts of resistance.
Whether you are an artist, activist, researcher, or someone who finds meaning in stories and values listening to and learning from voices that don’t usually take center stage, this conversation invites you into a reflection on history, memory, and the enduring power of resistance—as a path toward connection, transformation, and collective care.
Let's come together to listen, to speak, and to imagine new forms of resistance.
