Reflective Hold
Golnar Shahyar: vocals, piano
Atena Eshtiaghi: Cello
Tiefen jeder Komposition erkennen.

Kurdophone is a Vienna-based ensemble founded in 2017 by composer, tanbur player, and vocalist Omid Darvish. The group has gained European recognition for its distinctive musical language, which brings together Kurdish and Iranian musical traditions with elements of jazz and contemporary composition.
Through refined compositions and rich arrangements, Kurdophone creates a sound world that bridges cultural traditions while speaking to a wide contemporary audience.
The ensemble features an outstanding group of musicians, including Sarvin Hazin (kamancheh and violin), Amir Ahmadi (piano), Helene Glüxam (double bass), Omid Darvish (Vocals, Tanbur), and Lukas Aichinger (drums). Together, they form a highly dynamic ensemble that moves fluidly between intricate chamber-music textures, improvisation, and powerful rhythmic passages. Kurdophone’s debut album, Isomer (2019), presents the ensemble’s unique artistic vision. Drawing on tanbur maqams and modal traditions while incorporating influences from jazz, rock, and contemporary classical music, the album creates a compelling sonic landscape that connects ancient musical heritage with modern artistic expression.
